If you have ever wondered about the secret to escape rooms and how to always beat them, the real secret is that there is no secret! The key to beating escape rooms is teamwork, organization, and communication. You'd be surprised at how often simple communication within a team will bring success. So if you gather up a group of friends or family, book your room and bring your best team building hat.
Almost all escape rooms are designed with time limits and clues that require multiple people working together to solve it. When you first get into the game room, establish an area where you will organize all of your clues and notes. Usually, there is a flat surface like a desk or a table, but a clear area on the floor will also do. Look for writing instruments and white boards for some of the more difficult rooms. Then, agree upon how to make a decision as a group. Sharing information is crucial to success, and treat everything you find as a clue. This is our best kept escape room secret.
At Breakout Games, we find that our customers have the most fun when they communicate freely and share everything they discover with each other. Even when they don't break out, they share the fun of uncovering mysteries and finding clues, but we find that the teams who work together and communicate well usually end up successful. Remember, the biggest escape room secret is teamwork and communication.
