So you’ve gathered all of your friends and booked an escape room, now what?! Don’t worry! Half of the fun of playing an escape room is the surprise and intrigue! It can be tough not knowing what to expect, and if you are a planner, you might want to know how to prepare for your next big breakout. Look no further, all your questions will be answered here!

What to Bring

All you need is your brain and your team, but we often get asked what you should wear to Breakout. Breakout games are designed to challenge your mind, not your body, so you won’t need to wear anything specific. Come after work in your business casual, your work from home pajamas, or even your prom dress! We’ve seen it all at Breakout, and we love when you wear whatever you’re comfortable in. Pro Tip: If you want to have extra fun, we love escape room themed costumes! You won’t be allowed to bring any outside tools in to help you escape. We provide you with everything you need to breakout, so you won’t have to arrive with your lock picking kits, flashlights or notepads. We’ve got all of that covered for you!

Fill out your Waiver

One of the only things you will need to do to prepare for your game is to fill out our online waiver. You can fill it out ahead of time and save yourself some time or you can fill it out when you arrive if you need. Our online waiver lasts for a year, so if you’ve already played recently, you’ll just need to give our lobby host your name. Click here to fill out your waiver ahead of time! Each person in your group must have a waiver filled out, so feel free to send the link to everyone participating. If you have children with you, their waivers will need to be filled out by someone over 18, but it doesn’t have to be a parent or guardian. Just whoever is responsible for them the day of their experience!

When to Arrive

We will start right at the time of your booked experience, so you definitely want to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time of your game! This will give us enough time to make sure your group all has their waivers and allow everyone time to go to the restroom. Trust us, nothing is worse than missing a few minutes of the experience for the sake of a bathroom break!

How the Game Begins

Once your group is all checked in, you’ll meet your personal Game Master for the experience. Your Game Master will spend the entire hour fully available to you! He or she will explain the goal of the game, go over a few brief safety rules, and make sure you are prepared to start your experience. They will then watch your game from the Breakout Control Room where they can see everything in your room and will be ready to give you a hint if you need it! You can read more about when to ask for hints here. Your Game Master’s job is to make sure you have the best time possible while you are with us, so feel free to let them know if you need help, have any questions, or need anything at all.
We can’t wait to see you at Breakout! Now that you’re prepared and know what to expect, you can read our top tips and tricks for success! Ready to book your experience? Click the Play Now button at the top right corner of your screen to view our game calendar and book your next Breakout adventure!
